Why me Lord?

Genesis 50:15 - 21

I. Three lessons from the life of Joseph

   1. God sees everything and cares for us.
   2. God has given everyone freedom of choice.
   3. God is in control of the final outcome.

II. Five observations about God's control

   1. God gives us freedom to make mistakes.
   2. When we make mistakes we do pay for them.
   3. Others can cause us problems.
   4. Christians experience problems, yet God is with us.
   5. God takes bad situations and makes them good.

III. How to cope with adversity

   1. Don't give in to self pity.
   2. Never make major decisions when depressed.
   3. Resist temptation.
   4. Be forgiving.

Two marks of a great Christian:

giving and forgiving

IV. Four sources of strength during adversity
   1. The plan of God (Romans 8:28)
   2. The promises of God (Romans 15:14)
   3. The people of God (Hebrews 10:25)
   4. The presence of God (Matthew 28:20)
